April 21, 2011 – The Biola men’s lacrosse team ended their 2011 season with a bang, winning 17-3 over UC Irvine. The Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first quarter, fueled by the previous night’s loss to Fullerton. Irvine managed to score twice in the second quarter, but it was matched with three for Biola, who took a 7-2 lead into halftime. Biola opened the floodgates in the third, scoring six times in the quarter, and shutting out Irvine to extend the lead to 13-2 going into the fourth quarter. Irvine scored their third and final goal in the fourth, and Biola tacked on four more goals to finish off the 17-3 victory.
Senior defenseman Justin Harrington, senior midfielder Scott Shiokari and junior midfielder Jayson Schivley all played in their final game in a Biola uniform. Shiokari and Schivley both recorded three goal games, with Shiokari adding one assist and Schivley adding two. Shiokari continued his strong play as an attackman, having switched to attack for the final three games on the season. Schivley, who is graduating a year ahead of schedule, outscored his career totals in one game, entering the Irvine game with two goals and two assists. Shiokari finishes his MCLA career with eighth goals and 11 assists, Schivley finishes his MCLA career with five goals and four assists and Harrington finishes his MCLA career with two goals and four assists and several games in which he shut down the opponent’s leading scorer.
Junior attackman Marc Morgan led the Eagles with five goals and one assist in the win. Sophomore attackman Jeff Clark added two goals and two assists, with sophomore midfielder Scott Gamelson not far behind with two goals and one assist. Freshman midfielder JT Moranski and sophomore midfielder Robby Roach both recorded one goal. Junior midfielder David Sigley led the team in assists, with three. Freshman goalie Jimmy Perdomo-Hazen recorded seven saves in the victory.
