April 30, 2011 – The Biola men’s lacrosse team took on cross-town rivals Cal State Fullerton on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference playoffs. Originally, Biola was not slated to be in the playoffs, however a last minute change with Pepperdine put Biola into their second straight playoff berth. The Eagles were shorthanded, missing four players due to spring break plans. Working on a few days’ notice, and with two short-handed practices under their belt, the Eagles were unable to muster much of an attack, falling to Fullerton 21-8.
Fullerton led the first quarter 5-1 after a slow start by Biola. The Eagles’ offense managed to pick it up in the second, scoring four times, but the defense was unable to keep Fullerton out of the goal, as the Titans took a 9-5 lead into halftime. The second half was much of the same, with Fullerton outscoring Biola 7-3 over the final two quarters.
Junior attackman Marc Morgan led the Eagles’ offense with four goals, and junior midfielder David Sigley added two goals as well. Sophomore attackman Jeff Clark was held to just one goal, while sophomore midfielder Robby Roach found the goal once and was denied by the posts on two other shots. Freshman goalie Jimmy Perdomo-Hazen made nine stops and surrendered 16 goals, and junior midfielder/goalie Daris Chang made five saves in the fourth quarter.
